Rowan put his hair bun down, and his hair was giving him such gender euphoria today he told me. He said he didn't wanted to cut his hair short anymore; it was so grungy and crimpy, and he /loved/ it, but cutting his hair was meant to be a more gender-affirming thing for him to be FtM. However, he loves his hair long, and he joked saying he felt so cisgender right then. So how could he be genderfaunet if genderfaunet never encompassed binary women, yet he felt like a binary woman? He just didn’t know what to think anymore. He really didn’t want to transition anymore, but transitioning had been his dream for as long as he could remember.

He couldn’t be FtM like he wanted if he didn’t want to medically transition, but, not having gender-affirming surgeries—he's said he's never ever really wanted that, but he meant in terms of his appearance. He wanted to dress and act more like a boy, but right now, he was really happy being a girl.

Genderfaunet felt right; he loved that label; I've never seen his face light up like that when I showed him the label's page, but he isn’t genderfaunet at the same time now because of this. He couldn’t be genderfaunet if he felt fully cisgender right then.

He wasn’t genderfluid; that was too broad, and genderfaunet encompassed all the genders that he did feel except being the rare cisgender woman like he did now.

He told me how both gender euphoria over his appearance hit, but also gender dysphoria over his gender identity. He was feeling gender dysphoria over his own gender identity, what his gender identity felt like inside, what he was feeling outright contradicted itself. He felt very much like a woman, but very, very little like a man. Usually, it was the other way around.

His physical appearance was what he wanted it to be, feminine, but his gender identity screamed man, but there was a louder voice screaming women. He sounded really sad and confused telling me this morning.

He was a trans man; he'd always felt like a man, but right then, he felt like a woman. This had never happened before, and if it had, it had never been this intense before.

Is it valid to be trans but never want to transition? Since gender identity is different from expression, but some trans people intertwine them with FtM, MtF, or whatever? /genq

Rowan vibed with trans and genderfluid people—they were like the bread and butter of his identity sandwich. But then he realized there was a whole buffet of genders out there, and he was just sitting there like, "Can I get a menu, please?"

He had collected so many labels that he was starting to feel like a walking dictionary of genders. But when it came to choosing just one for easy communication, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He wanted something that screamed "Rowan" but also wouldn't require a thesis to explain.

So there he was, lost in the gender wilderness, hoarding labels like they were Pokémon cards. Gotta catch 'em all, right? But seriously, if anyone found the gender that perfectly encapsulated his vibe, please send him a map; he seemed to have gotten lost in the gender aisle of life.

You all have been an invaluable source of support, companionship, and understanding during both the sunny days and the stormy ones. Over the past few weeks, I've encountered some challenging situations both on this site and elsewhere online that have left me in a somewhat fragile mental state. These experiences have been tough to navigate, and I find myself needing to step back and prioritize my well-being for a while.

In the midst of all this, I've come to understand and embrace my identity more fully, and at this moment, I am very happy to identify as a trans man, non-binary, bisexual/romantic, and aroace. This realization has been empowering and liberating, but it's also a journey that requires introspection and self-care.

I've decided to take a step back and take a long break from online. I want to ensure I'm in a better place mentally and emotionally before rejoining our vibrant community.

I want to reassure you that this break is temporary. Until then, please know that you'll be in my thoughts, and I'll carry the memories of our time together close to my heart.

Im AFAB and identify as Gxnderflxid and Transmasc. When i feel more feminine sometimes i feel like a girl or fiaspec genders but most of the time i feel like im a boy trying to be feminine.

Like, when i feel feminine i dont feel cis, i feel transfeminine because ive transitioned to being mostly a male?

I feel rude saying it because i feel like its invalidating to transfeminine people.

Also i was kinda trying to explain this to my partner. he doesnt understand how i can identify as a femboy (i dont normaly but again, genderfluid) when im AFAB he says "well wouldn't you just.. be a girl then?"

he's not trying to be mean he just genuinley doesnt understand. I tried discussing it with him but im not sure if he really understood.

can someone try explaining how a transmasc can be a femboy?

my cousin’s older sister, my cousin, and I are in the kitchen eating, and my cousin’s older sister and my cousin are talking about the Hairspray dress up movie party they’re having in a couple weeks. And my cousin said that no boys are coming so they have no one to dress up as Link. I was so tempted to say that I could go as Link because I'm not a girl. So I could dress up as the boy character. But I didn't. Like a coward.

Maybe I am just a trans man, non-binary, bisexual/romantic, and aroace, and I'm looking too deeply into this. Finding my gender, orientation, and whatever shouldn't be *this* hard, right?

I think? I might be trans and non-binary, bisexual, and aroace. But I'm not sure. I'm satisfied with these labels right now at least. It’s only been 6 days, though. So there’s not enough data to make any final decisions.

Am I the only one here who thinks transmasc ≠ ftm and transfem ≠ mtf?

Hi my name is Aareon, I'm AFAB I've been exploring my gender since I was in 6-7th grade. Lately I've been feeling that my gender is more fliud between the Non-binary/Transmasculine umbrellas. I prefer to dress more in a Gender Neutral or Masculine way and I go by He/They pronouns. I've been thinking about getting top surgery recently but I don't think that I want to fully change to be the opposite gender. And at the same time I don't feel like a guy or a girl. Is there a gender for that?

Also for my sexuality, I like both guys and girls but sometimes the terms I use change depending on my gender. Like when I feel more male, I refer to myself as gay, when I feel more neutral I say I'm bi. Is there a label for that?

So I'm walking my younger brother to his primary church meet-up thing, and we were talking, and I gave him my phone number on a sticky note since his phone died so one of the leaders can contact me, and he said he'll scream my phone number out so all the boys will hear and I'll get a boyfriend, and I joked, saying I'm going to get a girlfriend. And he joked, saying I was a lesbian. I said I can't be a lesbian if I'm a boy and not a girl. And we just laughed. (Joking about being trans and a lesbian is probably not a thing CisHets do.) I stood up for myself in an actual irl conversation twice now. But it's not like my grandma (omg post), younger brother, or any of my family will take me seriously.

But now when I talk about it, I get a pit in my stomach because I know it's not simply joking anymore, no matter what tone I say it in. But I'm still happy, regardless.

Oh my gosh, you won't believe it! So, my grandma just came bursting into my room, all excited to sign me up for this church app that matches with the Young Women's stuff I was talking about earlier.

We were chatting away, waiting for the app to download, and while we were talking, I decided to tell her I really hated my [dead] name. And you know what? She didn't even bat an eyelid! Instead, she asked me what I wanted to be called, and when I spilled out my dream name—Rowan—she just smiled and said Rowan was a beautiful name! Can you imagine? I swear, I was shaking with nerves when I told her (I thought she would get mad at me for wanting a boy's name and figure out I was trans), but now?

Oh my goodness, I'm practically bursting with happiness! Like, I'm trying to hold back tears of joy right this second! It's just... wow, you know? I'm on cloud nine right now! I know this was a passing conversation and didn't mean anything, she's not going to start calling me Rowan now, but still. I am so happy to tell someone IRL about this.

Does anyone have any tips for a FtM to look more like a cis man?

I want to look more like a man, but it's not working. I don't have money for things like binders or anything, so does anyone have more passive tips? Passive meanings like hair, behavior, or stuff like that.

Compounding my struggle is the relentless grip of OCD, a relentless force that drives me to seek perfection in everything, including my self-identification. The constant need to neatly categorize myself to find the 'perfect' label only serves to exacerbate the turmoil within.

This internal battle has bred deep-seated fear and self-doubt—a crippling queerphobia that gnaws at my soul. The fear of not fitting neatly into societal norms, the fear of judgment and rejection from those closest to me—it all weighs heavily on my heart. In the midst of this turmoil, I am left feeling lost, alone, and endlessly searching for a sense of belonging in a world that seems determined to confine me to labels that never quite fit.

I find myself clinging desperately to labels like doxigender, fidelityflux, omniaspec, omnomi, and greyrose. These terms once offered solace and a sense of belonging in a world that often felt alienating and cruel. But now, they're nothing more than hollow shells, reminders of a happiness I can no longer grasp.

Every day is a struggle, a relentless battle against a gnawing emptiness that consumes me from within. I reach out for help and guidance, only to be met with dismissive remarks about gender being a mere social construct. But to me, it's so much more than that—it's a fundamental part of my identity and my existence.

I'm trapped in a perpetual state of confusion and despair, unable to find my way out of this suffocating darkness. The weight of isolation crushes me, leaving me drowning in a sea of loneliness and uncertainty.

So I continue to cling to these labels, hoping against hope that they'll somehow bring me the peace and happiness I so desperately crave. But deep down, I know the truth—I'm lost, adrift in a world that refuses to see me for who I truly am.

Every night, I lie awake, grappling with the weight of my truth and suffocating under the burden of a secret I long to share. I ache to reveal the intricacies of my identity to my family, to reveal the kaleidoscope of my soul painted with hues they may never understand. Instead, I seek solace in the digital embrace of strangers who offer labels as lifelines, attempting to capture the essence of my truth in mere words. Yet, these labels feel like ill-fitting garments, unable to encapsulate the complexity of my being, leaving me adrift in a sea of misunderstood identity.

So, I remain trapped in the silence of my suffering, longing for the day when I can break free from the chains of fear and stand unapologetically in the light of my authenticity. But until then, I am but a whisper in the wind, unheard and unseen by those who claim to love me most.

I believed I was finally on the path to healing and that the wounds inflicted upon my soul were gradually closing. I dared to hope that I was inching towards embracing my queer identity and finding solace in the truth of who I am. But it was all a mirage, a fleeting illusion of happiness that crumbled beneath the weight of reality.
