The term speculum first originated from the historical language of Latin. Upon being translated, Anfrom means “mirror”, specere means “to see; to look at”, and ulum means “''forming tools of performing a verb''”.

Speculogender or mirrorgender is a form of gender fluidity where ones gender may fluctuate, change, or adapt based on the people they're around. For example, one may feel masculine around a group of men, or androgynous in a mixed group.
