How to sign up for user rights

Anyone can sign up for user rights, by following the steps below:

  1. Choose a right to apply for and read its requirements.
  2. Create a thread in the project talk discussions category. Title it 'Request for rights.' Your post should look like this (try to avoid polls, if possible):

Upvote/downvote message (optional): (insert a message to users on this wiki asking to upvote or downvote you for user rights)

Username: (insert username)

Number of edits: (insert approximate edit number)

How many days/months have you been active?: (insert how long you have been active contributing to the wiki)

What position are you applying for?: (insert user right you are applying for)

Why do you think you should be promoted?: (insert a brief description of why you think you should be given user rights. (ex; what your goals are, what you will do, what makes you stand out for rights)

Any other information: (insert any relevant information about your application, if you have any)

3. Give users some time to upvote/downvote you for rights, preferably, 2 or 3 days. If your post has been unnoticed by admins after this time period, message an admin to make them aware.

  • If your post has gone unnoticed by any user (no one has upvoted/downvoted you) than message an admin and explain this to them, or wait another day to allow users to upvote/downvote you.

4. If you have received votes and admins are aware of your application, wait for it to be reviewed! It may take between a few days and about two weeks for your application to be fully reviewed and for you to receive your verdict.

It should be kept in mind that receiving a majority vote and meeting the user right requirements will often lead to the promotion. However if wiki staff find any major issues with the nominee, or they believe the user to be majorly inadequate for rights, said user may not be promoted

Guidelines for user rights

  • Do not make and/or use extra/alternate accounts to upvote or downvote yourself.
  • Do not peer pressure or by other means force community members to either upvote or downvote you.
  • Do not become upset with admins, community members, or anyone else, if you are not promoted.
  • For the chance of being promoted, you must meet the requirements for the right you are applying for. If you do not meet a requirement, but still believe you could be effective without meeting it, message an admin.
  • Users with extended rights will not 'outrank' community members.
  • User rights are not a loophole to be used for breaking our policies.
  • If you don't have any intent of helping or improving the wiki, user rights are not for you.
  • Please do not apply for rights if you're underaged because it may hurt the community

Other topics

  • You may nominate another user for rights, with their permission only.
  • Unless under very special circumstances, you must receive a majority 'yes' votes (upvotes) from the community to be promoted.
  • You can only apply for one user right at a time. (Ex: You can't apply for both content moderator and thread moderator at the same time)
  • If you would like to apply for multiple sets or rights, please wait at least three weeks between each promotion before applying again.
